About Us

Jamie, owner of Training Aces, has been working with dogs professionally since 2006. His canine career began when he started working as a veterinary technician at a busy vet's office where he was employed for eight years. Seeing stressed and anxious dogs enter the clinic on a daily basis inspired Jamie to learn more about canine behavior and training techniques, and he became determined to help dogs reach their potential and live happy, stress-free lives with their owners. His dream was realized when he started Training Aces in 2008.

If communicating with dogs was a language, people would definitely say that Jamie is totally fluent in dog language. Jamie is able to understand and interpret dog behavior on a different level than the average person. His natural talent for communicating with dogs combined with his extensive and ongoing education in all forms of dog training allows Jamie to train all breeds of dogs with his own unique style. Jamie recognizes that all dogs are different and can easily adapt and change his training plans to fit what any dog needs to learn effectively at any given moment.

Jamie is the trainer you will meet when bringing your dog to camp and he is also who you will work with during private lessons. Not only can Jamie train dogs, but he is also a wonderful teacher to the humans of the dogs he trains.

Jamie’s number one girl and heart dog is his border collie, Flyy. Training Flyy is what got him into this business and helped to inspire Training Aces, so it is only fitting that she is the literal face of Training Aces. Jamie’s two oldest border collies, Flyy and Gwen, have a love for training that is beyond compare. Jamie currently has two young dogs, Doppler the rottweiler and Bean the border collie who he plans to compete with in the future in various dog sports. Bean has a natural love for people and hopes to eventually be a therapy dog.

Jamie’s favorite thing about training is teaching dogs to truly learn to communicate with humans so that dogs and their owners can live an easier, more adventure filled life together.

Robin, co-owner of Training Aces, has worked with dogs in some capacity since 2007. She worked in a boarding kennel during college and later worked as a dog groomer for a retailer and as a receptionist in a busy veterinary practice

How Robin came to be a part of Training Aces involves a love story that could rival anything Nicholas Sparks has written, but to make it short and sweet - Robin met Jamie through Training Aces - Jamie trained her dog - they fell in love, and the rest is history. Kind of appropriate that two crazy dog lovers would meet via dogs, right?

Robin joined Jamie in the business part time starting in 2016 and made the switch to a full time member of the Training Aces team in 2018. Robin is most often behind the scenes at Training Aces and is usually found updating our Facebook page, writing blogs for or website, or helping Jamie work with our training camp students. She has essentially apprenticed under Jamie for the last 6 years in dog training and really enjoys working with our campers.

Robin enjoys competing with her dogs and has competed in conformation, rally, obedience, dock diving, and lure coursing. She showed her Spinone Italiano, Mosby, to his Conformation Championship before retiring him to pursue a true passion for both of them - therapy work. Mosby and Robin visit a local nursing home weekly and also do occasional school visits. Mosby is a natural born therapy dog, and Robin enjoys the visits as much as he does. They both just love bringing smiles to the faces of the residents the team visits.

Robin also currently trains and competes in rally, obedience, and dock diving with her two young labradors. Pixel received her rally novice title at just over 6 months old and has continued to excel way ahead of schedule. She has attained her rally excellent title as well as a senior dock diving title. Her younger lab, Zola, is also training to compete in AKC events. She truly enjoys the relationship she has built with her dogs through training and hopes that she can inspire others to train and have fun with their dogs in the same way.
